The first shop was opened in 1930 by Aline and Emile Châtelain, only a few steps from its current location.
In those days, the sale of jewellery and silver cutlery was just as important as the sale of watches for our business.
At the end of the 50s, the son Daniel joined his parents at the shop, and this was the start of a new era : As a certified watchmaker
educated at the Ecole d’Horlogerie in Geneva, he added second hand vintage watches and antique jewellery to the shop’s assortment.
This activity has given us a worldwide reputation.
Currently, the second and third generation of Châtelains are working together, Christian joined his father Daniel in 1983.
These days the trade in watches has taken over as our most important activity and the connoisseur of beautiful watches is certain to find
the watch he is looking for in the choices between : Breitling, TAG-Heuer, Oris, Revue Thommen, Formex, Claude Meylan etc..
The Chronométrie Châtelain is the only shop in Lausanne with 3 certified watchmakers at your service :
